AFSP Launches “Caring Communities” to Support Survivors of Suicide Loss

Titled “Caring Communities: Guidance for Supporting Survivors of Suicide Loss,” the one-hour presentation is available both virtually and in person and is designed for workplaces, community groups, and organizations seeking to better understand and assist survivors.
Developed by AFSP’s National Loss & Healing Council, which includes subject matter experts and individuals with lived experience of suicide loss, the program offers practical guidance, resources, and culturally informed strategiesto support those in grief. Participants will learn how to navigate sensitive conversations, understand cultural nuances in the grieving process, and implement meaningful support practices across a range of settings.
To mark the program’s launch, AFSP will host a public presentation of Caring Communities ahead of National Grief Awareness Day:
-Monday, August 25
- 1:00 PM ET
- Virtual Event

AFSP encourages community members, employers, and advocates to attend and help strengthen the network of care for those affected by suicide loss. Sharing this opportunity widely can help ensure that no one has to navigate grief alone.
