Mission

A public private partnership of NH stakeholders, partners and communities to expand suicide prevention efforts to include the state’s disability community.

The goal is zero suicides for:

  • Individuals living with lifelong or acquired disability from injury or disease across their life span.

  • Veterans and first responders struggling with acquired disability from Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other causes.

Core Values and Principles:

  1. Work alongside the NH State Suicide Prevention Council toward the goal of zero suicides for all vulnerable and at-risk populations.

  2. Extend the programming and concepts of the state’s Zero Suicide Initiative to other settings beyond its current focus on clinical and healthcare systems, including New Hampshire’s home and community-based long-term care system and other settings where persons with lifelong disability live.

  3. Increase help-seeking culture and referrals within New Hampshire’s vulnerable populations who are most at risk for suicide.

  4. Improve access to long-term palliative care in all settings for individuals living with disability across the lifespan, including Veterans and first responders

  5. Promote a holistic approach to long-term palliative care that includes greater access to psychological and psychiatric care, with emphasis on individuals living with disability and co-occurring disorders.

  6. Monitor legislation and oppose measures that weaken suicide prevention efforts and impede progress towards the goal of Zero Suicides for all populations.

  7. Work to expand and strengthen funding for suicide prevention efforts in NH.
